Poison ivy can be a real nuisance if you so happen to get it. It can be really itchy. It can be really uncomfortable and no moisturizer in the world can soothe the constant itch that poison ivy produces. It can compromise your skincare if not treated appropriately. But like any skin issue there are many remedies you can use to help treat it so it can heal.

There are ways to stop contact with poison ivy. For starters you should learn to establish what is poison ivy and what is not. The way you can determine poison ivy is by three leaflet. If you see a leaf with three leaflets it is likely poison ivy. If you ever have problems identifying poison ivy remember the saying "leaves of three, leave them be" that is how I remember how to decipher.

The signs or symptoms of poison are very simple to identify. For starters it is important to remember that the rash usually starts two to three days after you have been exposed. The first sign of the rash are curved lines of red, itchy blisters or bumps. As days go by these blisters and bumps will continue to show up for up to two to three weeks. In unusual circumstances the lungs, eyes, and air ways could possibly be affected if exposed to smoke from burning plants.

There are several ways to treat poison ivy. For starters, fundamental skin care regimens help like simple soap and water can help reduce the severity of the rash. Companies like Likewise create skincare products that not only protect skin, but also beautifies it.

The main goal of treatment is to control the itching. The way you do this is by making use of oral antihistamines such as Benadryl but be careful because Benadryl is known to make people drowsy. Like I said before moisturizers doesn't really do anything concerning minimizing the itching. Besides Benadryl, Cortisone creams could be helpful as long as they are applied right away before the blisters appear or after when they are all dried up. Another way to help you relieve the itching is by using oatmeal baths and cool compresses they are known to help greatly.

From an individual like me who has dealt with poison ivy in the past. I wish had this understanding before maybe my contact with poison ivy could have been avoided. Just keep in mind to be take note of what plants are around you. If you see three leaflet plants, they possibly are poison ivy. Also if you do get poison ivy just remember to follow the procedures I said before. These remedies really should make the poison ivy rashes somewhat tolerable. With that said just use common sense when you're in nature.
